One world is called Mareth, and it might be at the center of them all. The cracks in space between worlds — or portals — all seem to take you to Mareth and only Mareth, there are a lot of different portals that go to Mareth, but none that go away from Mareth.
In the village known as Ingnam, the people sacrificed a Champion of theirs to the Demon minions who would come through a portal from Mareth. This “Champion” was nothing more than a chess piece used by the Ingnam Elder Council in a long-term plot to extend their own lives. The Champion was able to defeat the minions on the other side of the portal and began a one-woman crusade to rid Mareth of Demons entirely; this was one year ago, halfway around the world.
You have never heard of a place called Mareth, nor the village of Ingnam. You left your home and life behind almost a year ago to go off and make a name for yourself in the great unknown — a year filled with travelling, exploring, fighting, and surviving alone. During your time spent travelling, you’ve accumulated some money, enough to purchase passage to the most distant land in the known world: the Frost Marches.
